CFDI turns Five
Written by LCF Helen Marie P. Mendoza

The Camillian Family of Davao, Inc. (CFDI) celebrated its 5th Foundation Anniversary last September 15, 2008. A series of preparatory activities took place in line with the celebration.

The first event was a Healing Mass, presided by CFDI Chaplain Fr. Tex Rico, MI, in the afternoon of September 11 at the Wellness Center of the hospital. Patients in the wards were invited. The anointing of the sick followed. Simple snacks were distributed to the patients and watchers after the Mass.

On September 12, we held a recollection attended by some CF members and a few employees of DMC. The recollection was facilitated by Sr. Veronica Centeno, CS and Fr. Gilbert Nasataya, Pre-Theology Director of St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary.

CFDI also sponsored the TV Mass at ABS-CBN, Davao Studio on September 13.  It was an anticipated Mass intended for the sick, aged and other believers who cannot go to church for Sunday Mass. It was presided over by Fr. Tex. (Actually this was his second Mass at ABS-CBN Davao.  He was first invited by the Pauline Sisters last August 30 because of his lively misa-cantada and homily, of course.)

Another healing mass was held at 9:30 a.m. on September 14.  Father Tex presided it with Fr. Ely Ubag, MJ as the homilist.  We are very thankful for the presence of Fr. Ely who assisted Fr. Tex especially during the anointing of the sick.

September 15 was the big day. CDFI sponsored the Monday morning Mass at the Wellness Center.  The CFDI members made a renewal of commitment during the Mass.  A get-together lunch followed at the Healing Garden, DMC compound, to celebrate the CFDI fifth foundation anniversary.  The lunch also served as an advance birthday treat for Fr. Bong who celebrated his birthday the following day.

The different activities turned out to be successful and fulfilling. With the support and presence of our Chaplain, officers and members as well, and through the generous support of friends, we know CFDI will continue to thrive and persevere in the realization of our calling for the sake of the sick.

HEALER’S NEWS

CHAPEL OF THE DIVINE HEALER

Davao Medical Center

  • Last August 30, 2008, Fr. Tex Rico, the hospital chaplain, was invited by the Pauline Sisters to celebrate the anticipated TV Mass at ABS-CBN, Davao Studio.  Fr. Tex presided over the misa cantada and delivered an inspiring homily.  The Chapel of the Divine Healer Choir led the congregation in the singing.
  • A Healing Mass is celebrated every fourth Sunday of the month at 9:30 AM at the Chapel of the Divine Healer
  • Every 8:00 o’clock in the morning we hold the morning prayer at the chapel to start the day.  Everyone is welcomed to join the prayer.
  • On October 1, the chaplaincy office with the assistance of the Camillian Family spearheaded the daily recitation of the holy rosary in the different offices and wards of the hospital. This practice has been observed in DMC for several years now in celebration of the rosary month.
