What’s stirring at St. Camillus Pastoral Healthcare Center? CPE goes on.Benny and yours truly are now half way through the second quarter of our CPE journey together with Liz and Daphne. We call ourselves the four elements that keep the flame of CPE burning at SCPHC, with Sr. Tentai Saniel, RC as the fifth element who binds us together and guides us to be more caring and loving. Sad to say, we will be ending soon – probably March 14. But that’s not the end of the road. Another quarterly course will run from March 30 to June 6. HIV/AIDS PastoralTraining takes off.February 26 to March 1 are four days in the SCPHC calendar earmarked for the HIV/AIDS Pastoral Training Seminar. Around 28 participants are expected to attend it. Most of them are Camillian scholastics, novices, postulants, and sisters. The St. Camillus Polyclinic-Pasig will be represented by a doctor and a medical technician. Two Holy Spirit (S.SpS.) sisters, two doctors from Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and a doctor from Amang Rodriguez Medical Center will also be participating. The seminar is an initial step in the formation of trainors who will disseminate correct information about HIV-AIDS and, hopefully, engage also in the pre-test and post-test counseling of People Living with HIV-AIDS and their family members. To achieve this objective, SCPHC has invited resource persons from UNAIDS, the Department of Health, Research Institute for Tropical Diseases, Remedios Aids Foundation, Positive Action Foundation of the Philippines, Inc., and Pinoy Plus. Through the speakers who include People Living with HIV-AIDS, the participants are expected to (1) gain basic information about HIV-AIDS, the local situation in the Philippines, and the situation of People Living with HIV-AIDS, and (2) understand the importance of counseling. English lessons are offered too.Two Thai nationals arrived at SCPHC last February 11. The two young men are among the personnel of the Camillian Center in Changrai, Thailand. They are staying at SCPHC for three months to study English. Sr. Fe Santos, SMI, the SCPHC Administrator, has zealously plunged into the task of teaching them English three hours a day, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, Monday to Friday. That’s it for now. Till next! |
