DMC celebrates 17th World Day of the Sick
The Chaplaincy Office together with the Camillian Family of Davao Inc. celebrated the World Day of the Sick last February 11 with two Healing Masses. The first Mass was celebrated at 9:00 am at the gymnasium in the hospital compound, which currently serves as a temporary ward while the Medical Communicable Pavilion is under renovation. The presence of three Camillian priests, Fr. Tex Buntol, our chaplain, and Fr. Rodel Enriquez and Fr. Gabby Garcia, whose visit to Davao was very timely, added significance to the celebration. After the Mass, the Camillian Family distributed “arroz-caldo” to the patients and watchers.
At 5:00 pm, another Healing Mass was celebrated
at the Chapel of the Divine Healer animated by the Divine Healer Choir.
Fr. Tex presided was the main celebrant while Fr. Gabby served as
homilist. Many attended the Healing Mass – the admitted able-patients
from the different wards, sick individuals from the neighborhood,
watchers of patients, and employees of the hospital and of the
neighboring offices.
The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick was
administered in both Healing Masses. We thank God for making us
instruments in manifesting His great love to the less fortunate,
especially the poor-sick. We pray that the burning desire and
compassion will blaze constantly in our hearts as we continue to serve
our sick brothers and sister. To God always be the glory!
