Mati Matters

SCH Mati going strong through the years

A solemn Eucharistic celebration, a most colorful parade and a hilarious program highlighted with a jam with the band provided a lot of fun as St. Camillus Hospital celebrated its 11th Founding Anniversary on April 15, 2009 with the theme “Participate, Believe and Succeed.” (more photos at StCamillusHospital.com )

After the parade in the morning, all participants shared the snacks prepared at the reception lobby.  The parade was highlighted with the different floats carrying respective exhibits and decorations representing hospital departments.  It was really a wonderful experience for us employees as we celebrate it once a year.  There was also an activity for the 48 children coming from Special Education (SPED) of Mati.  Bro. Paolo Han, MI sponsored this program made enjoyable by the Jollibee mascot and crew through games, fun and lots of food.

In the afternoon, we began with the Eucharistic celebration officiated by Fr. Bong and Fr. Angel.  Dinner followed at the lobby.  While everybody was enjoying dinner, visitors kept arriving and when dinner was almost finished, the short program began.  Many surprises unfolded and entertained the audience: a creative presentation from CBHCP, a song number by Orly Abio, and a special back to back presentation from Kitkat Flores (daughter of Dr. Florence Flores) and the Nursing Department.

The winners of the logo-making contest and the participants were also announced and awarded.

The Red team was tagged as the over-all champion, with the Blue team ending up 1st runner-up, while the Yellow and Black teams placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Fr. Bong, Fr. Angel and Scholastic Marven presented the various awards.  Of course, we did not forget to recognize the presence of our Directors, guests, visitors, religious and doctors as well.

The program closed with Fr. Bong thanking everyone present.  Fr. Bong, by the way, delivered a wonderful homily which encouraged us to give thanks for the many blessings we have received and to strive to always live as Easter people.  Let’s keep his words in our hearts and try to live them fully with Jesus in our midst.

Happy anniversary to all!
