SCH-Calbayog marks its 13th anniversary

TRESE NA KAMI!  These words capture the spirit of this year’s celebration of the anniversary of St. Camillus Hospital – Calbayog.  Imagine, it’s been thirteen years that this hospital has been of service to the poor sick of Calbayog City and the nearby municipalities.  That’s really a great achievement!

Anyway, this year’s anniversary carried the theme:  “Partnership: Together We Serve.” This theme animated the teams that joined the sports fest.:  T4 (Team Forever United), IPAD (Irresistible Passionate Active Dynamic Camillian), and PNB (Parokya Ni Bro).  The celebration lasted almost six weeks with the Sports fest opening on May 26 and culminating on July 14.  The teams competed in honor of our saintly father Camillus. And the overall champion was none other than the IPAD.

Within the six week span, we also held the novena to St. Camillus.  Each department had its assigned day and had an opportunity to share a reflection about the Ten Commandments of St. Camillus, which was the focus of this year’s novena.

The culminating activity on the feast of St. Camillus began with the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Ferdinand Figueroa who was joined by seven concelebrants and a deacon.  A salo-salo and a program followed afterwards.  Adding to the joy of the event were guests from different institutions: priests from Calbayog Diocese, healthcare workers from the nearby hospitals, and members of our own lay Camillian Family.  Mayor Mel Senen Sarmiento of Calbayog City and Dr. Elizabeth Fernandez, the PhilHealth Vice President of Eastern Visayas, also graced the occasion.

The three teams presented segments of St. Camillus’ life in a very creative way.  Their performance really added flavor to the celebration.  Doctors, nurses, priest, brothers and sisters participated well also.  They danced, sang, acted and laughed together.  It was really a day of partnership, as we remembered our Founder and together committed ourselves to another year of service.

A million thanks to all of us for making this celebration memorable and enjoyable.   Only here at St. Camillus Hospital – Calbayog.  Till next year…
