Divine Healer Chapel Pays Tribute to Cory

Last August 5, 2009, the Chapel of the Divine Healer of Davao Medical Center joined the whole nation in prayer and grief over the loss of a great leader. Fr. Tex Buntol, MI, together with the chapel volunteers, the chapel choir and the lay ministers, wore yellow shirts to show respect and gratitude to our former president, the late Madam Cory Aquino.

At 9:00 AM, Fr. Tex celebrated the Holy Mass in the Neuro Ward of the hospital.   It was offered for the eternal repose of the soul of our former president and for the speedy recovery of all patients confined in the Neuro ward. A healing prayer was also offered after communion by Fr. Tex and the anointing of the sick followed right after the Mass.

Divine Healer Chapel celebrates 12th founding anniversary

Last August 8, 2009 the Chapel of the Divine Healer of Davao Medical Center celebrated its 12th Founding Anniversary. The celebration is fondly regarded as the DMC fiesta which usually coincides with the observance of the National Hospital Week.

The day started with a short program to pay tribute to the late Fr. Walter John Maxcy, MM.  He was the first hospital chaplain who served DMC for more than five years. The testimonies, power point presentation and songs from different choral groups made the event momentous. Fr. Maxcy died on July 6, 2009 in St. Teresa’s Residence, New York at the age of 89. The different departments, sections and units of the DMC community also took turns in sponsoring the novena  Masses which culminated on the Founding Anniversary Day. The fiesta mass was presided over by Fr. Tex Buntol, MI, while Fr. Bong Pamintuan, MI, preached the homily.

Throughout its 12 years of existence, the Chapel of the Divine Healer has grown into a more vibrant community. Fr. Tex conveyed his heartfelt thanks to his superior, Fr. Bong, for his constant support. He also extended his sincerest gratitude to the chapel volunteers, chapel choir, the Eucharistic Lay Ministers, hospital administration and all the many generous people who showed and gave their continued support.

After the Mass, a sumptuous lunch prepared by the Chaplaincy Office and the Hospital Administration was served at the DMC Healing Garden.
