Guests from London

Four young Filipinos who migrated and are now working in England, Boyet and Kathy Tamayo, Jojo and Russell Sumilhig, arrived in Essen for a short vacation last July 25. They were accommodated in Kamillushaus for a week. It was Bro. Peter Schiffer who invited them to come over. Bro. Peter knows Boyet since he was assigned in Mati hospital. During their stay, they spent the time visiting famous places like Cologne, Düsseldorf, Aachen, and Amsterdam. Since Boyet and Russell celebrated their birthdays during their stay, they decided to cook Filipino delicacies like pansit, adobo, arroz caldo, etc. for dinner. Masarap! Now the confreres are hoping that Fr. Rolly and Fr. Gabby will do the same when they come.

70 Years of Priesthood

Fr. Hermann Storb, the oldest living German Camillian, celebrated his 70th anniversary of priestly ordination last August 6, the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord. The Holy Mass was celebrated in the chapel of St. Ewaldi Home for the Aged in Dortmund where he worked as a chaplain for many years and where he is now living. Since Fr. Storb was  unable to act as the main celebrant, Fr. Jörg Gabriel and Fr. Manny Tamayo presided over the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Storb will turn 95 on January 9 next year.

Summer Festival in Paul Hannig Heim

It has already been a tradition that the Homes for the Elderly in North Rhein Wesfalia (if not in the whole of Germany) celebrate yearly the summer festival for the occupants, employees and invited guests. The Paul Hannig Heim, where Bro. Michael Kuchler is working, scheduled its festival on August 14.  Throughout the afternoon till evening there will be happy celebration with various stage presentations and activities. Just like in the past years, Fr. Manny is invited to sing (ala karaoke) several German seaman’s songs during the program.
