Camillian Spirit Still Ablaze at SCHC
While we are all busy with the bench book thing, the Camillian Spirit remains ablaze here in Calbayog City. Last September 19, as part of our Lay Camillian Apostolate, we revisited the Calbayog City Jail. By the way, this is a once a month activity, by which as LCF of Calbayog, we reach out to the so called sick of our society. We usually celebrate mass and spend time with one another, sharing our inspiring stories and thoughts. Then we end with a simple salo-salo. It is a refreshing experience to bring the ever present love of Christ to those who are cast out by society.
Likewise, the Camillian collaboration with the
Diocesan Commission on Health Care (DCHC) is still growing strong.
Again, two forums for this month were held at SCHC Conference Hall, as
part of the “Health is Wealth” program. Last September 11, a forum on
Pulmonary Disease was given by our very own Dr. Ferdinand Buendia. On
September 25, Dr. Flora Rosales gave a very interesting input on
Ovarian Disease and Care. The very informative and helpful forums
elicited the full participation of the SCHC staff, Diocesan Commission
on Health personnel, Christ the King Nursing Students, and personnel of
Phil Products.
Hand in hand with this collaboration the SCHC sent
representatives to the Gandara Medical Mission organized by DCHC and
spearheaded by Msgr. Jun Cinco. Held last Sept. 26, the mission was a
half day affair that served as a part of the fiesta activities in honor
of St. Michael the Archangel. We helped in the treatment of more or
less two hundred indigent residents of Gandara. It was a very
meaningful experience for us, as a Camillian institution, to be
involved in the service of the sick in Western Samar.
This is all for now. Till next…
