AIDS Does Matter
Written by Sch. John Jay C. Magpusao, MI

Posi+ive Prayers

From May to August, three recollection activities were facilitated by Sch. Dan V. Cancino, MI and this writer for people who are HIV/AIDS positive. On those occasions, an important time was allotted for the participants to articulate their own prayers. Here are some of them:

“Give me more strength, Lord, so I may be able to continue serving my fellow Filipinos living with HIV. Please prolong my remaining life here on earth for my family and friends.”

“I pray, God, for Cai-Cai and Eric and all the people who died of AIDS; may they experience eternal peace in You.”

“With this life and blessings that You bestowed on us people living with HIV, may we never lose hope, and I pray that one day a drug that will cure us becomes available.”

“Thank you, Lord, for your forgiveness, that even though I sin again and again, You are still there to forgive me. Thank you, Lord, for my mother who continues to care for me. Please take away, Lord, my resentment with my family, and I pray that they will accept me in my condition this time.”

“Please help me, Lord.  My prayer is for my family to accept and love me more. I’m not longing for any material things. What I need is love and acceptance and your spiritual guidance.”

“I pray, Lord, that You may extend my life, enlighten my mind and give me strength in facing life’s challenges. Please take care of me always, Lord, and most especially my children and my fellow people living with HIV. Please guide us always, Lord. Thank you very much, Lord.”

“Please don’t allow us to go astray once more, Lord, and I pray that when my time comes to face you, may I, with all my strength, be able to say the words ‘Thank you,’ ‘I’m sorry,’ and “I LOVE YOU, LORD.’”

“Thank you, Lord, for always giving me hope and keeping me healthy despite my infection.”

“Grant that my family, most especially my siblings, may understand me, Lord. I pray that I may experience peace in my life, Lord.”

“For the NGOs, social workers and religious congregations who are journeying with us, that they may never get tired of guiding and helping us people living with HIV. All this we lift up to you in prayer, Lord.”
