Guest Priests

Fr. Virgilio Bago and Fr. Tony Palina are diocesan priests from the Diocese of Bayombong. Through the invitation of a Filipino-German family, they came to Essen for a few days of vacation. During their stay, they contacted Fr. Manny Tamayo to avail themselves of the religious activities of the Filipino Catholic community. Fr. Tony is the chaplain of the Filipino community in Ibiza, Spain, while Fr. Virgilio is scheduled to go to Florence, Italy for a special course on Spirituality.

Filipino Summer Feasts

The different existing Filipino organizations in this area enjoyed summertime through various happy celebrations, parties, grills, bowling, tombolas, galas, etc. Recently, Fr. Weber and Fr. Manny attended the Filipino gala evening in Wuppertal where Consul Romeo L. Manalo from the Philippine General Consulate in Frankfurt was also around. Another highlight of the Filipino summer activities was the concert of Randy Santiago last September 13 in Essen.

Arrival of Bro. Cabogs

After enjoying his vacation in the Philippines, Bro. Cabogs arrived in Germany last September 18. He will stay for some weeks in Essen to do a three week apostolate with the elderly in the Home for the Aged (Paul Hannig Heim). Afterwards, he will go back to the Freiburg community in time for the re-opening of the university semester towards the end of October.

Bishop Edgardo Juanich

Through the invitation of the New Filipino German Association based in Oberhausen, Bishop Edgardo Juanich from Palawan is coming to Germany on September 24. He will be presenting his humble projects and initiatives in the Philippines hoping for support and assistance from the different German parishes and charitable groups and institutions. Mr. Lutz Ruhloff, the incumbent president of the said association, prepared his itinerary and activities. Two Masses in two different parishes are scheduled for the bishop. But since he is unable to speak German, Fr. Manny will preside over the Mass on Saturday (September 26 at 7 pm) in St. Barbara Church; Fr. Weber will do the same the following day (September 27 at 10 am) in the Heart of Jesus Church.
