“How do you feel?” has been the daily vitamins of Scholastics Brian, Mike, Jayson, Rowel, John Paul, Tobabs and Eric these days.
While others are enjoying the heat of the summer sun in beach resorts, these seven human beings on the other hand are also enjoying (did I hear hating?) the heat of processing their feelings in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) they are taking up this summer. No amount of sun-screen lotion can shield them from the frying encounters. But surely, the deeper self-knowledge and the skills in pastoral care for sick patients that they will be learning at the end of the program will truly be like ice-cold water that would soothe their hearts and souls.
Eric and Tobabs are taking their CPE in St. Luke’s Medical Center, while John Paul and Rowel in Makati Medical Center. Jayson, Mike and Brian are in home territory at the St. Camillus Pastoral Healthcare Center (sosyal!).
Enjoy the moments, wounded healer Brothers!
For their part, Scholastics Dan and Kuyon are into medical missions – their field of specialization(!). These are, of course, inevitable for they are lending a hand in extending medical and allied medical services at St. Camillus Healthcare Center in Cainta, Rizal, with some sidelines in Boso-Boso, Antipolo City. In addition, Dan is tasked from time to time to assist in some administrative work in St. Camillus Polyclinic in Pasig City.
Likewise, parish work is so challenging a job, and definitely there is no other better chance to learn this noble task but this summer! So good luck to you, dear “parish pests” and “poor curators”: Scholastics Cado and Ito in Nuestra Señora de la Anunciata Parish in Boso-Boso and Ignas in La Paz Parish in Makati City.
Hospital work? This too is intricate and challenging! So, have a good time learning the ropes, future hospital administrators and chaplains! Doing the hospital summer apostolate are Scholastics Cido and Nonoy in Lung Center of the Philippines; Bernard and Benny in St. Camillus Hospital in Calbayog City, Samar; Gusti in Davao Medical Center in Davao City; and Mushtaq in St. Camillus Hospital in the City of Mati, Davao Oriental.
Other members of the Scholasticate Community who are in various summer apostolates are Alfons (Indonesia), Phat (Vietnam) and Caloy (Taiwan).
Scholastics Andi and Eli are taking special summer programs.
Come end of summer, let’s all get together and share answers to one sizzling question, “How do you feel?”
