Feast of St. Camillus in Essen
July 9 - A special Mass for the sick and the elderly was celebrated in St. Camillus Church at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Fr. Manny Tamayo, the superior of the Camillians in Essen, was the main celebrant. Fr. Jörg Gabriel concelebrated. During the holy celebration, the Sacrament of Anointing was administered. Afterwards, everybody gathered in the Parish Hall for coffee and cakes.
July 10 - Fr. Dietmar Weber presided over the 10 o’clock Mass in the
church attended by the employees of Kamillushaus and the alcoholic
patients who are undergoing therapy in our clinic. Fr. Manny Tamayo and
Fr. Jörg Gabriel concelebrated. Lunch was served for everybody in the
Clinic Hall.
July 10-11 - For two consecutive evenings, Fr. Weber presented the topic: “Camillus, a saint for here and now!” (Kamillus – ein Heiliger für hier und heute!) in the church for the parishioners. The presentation served as an impulse to prepare the people for the coming feast.
July 13 - At 10 o’clock, a High Mass was celebrated in St. Camillus Church attended by a big number of parishioners. The parish priest from St. Ludgerus in Werden, Fr. Johannes Kronenberg, was invited to be the main celebrant. Fr. Weber, Fr. Geiger, and Fr. Manny concelebrated. The Parish Choir, backed up by the Filipino Choir, led the singing during the celebration. During the Mass, Bro. Jun Cabonegro renewed his vows. The happy celebration continued afterwards at the Kamillushaus Square. Typical German soup, bread and drinks were served for everybody.
July 14 - In the morning, Fr. Manny administered the Sacrament of Anointing to the residents of the Home for the Aged (Paul Hannig Heim) who are mostly bed-ridden and who were not able to join the special Mass for the sick which was celebrated last July 9.
