The St. Camillus Scholasticate Community, spearheaded by the committee responsible for spiritual life, conducted the Novena to St. Camillus from July 5 to 13, 2008. We prayed hard for our Camillian confreres, for the sick and for our Order. Fr. Aris Miranda, MI shared his personal experiences with the community on July 10, 2008. He presided over the Holy Eucharist and had dinner with us. His sharing showed that it has been indeed an enriching experience for him to live with Camillians from various parts of the world. On the Feast of St. Camillus, July 14, we held a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Evan Paul A. Villanueva, MI and con-celebrated by Fr. Primitivo Guinit, MI. Several visitors from various apostolic areas graced the activity and showed their unwavering support and collaboration. The community prepared a very high tech and sophisticated power point presentation depicting the life and mission of St. Camillus. On July 15, 2008, “something truly will happen” was the outcry of the people of God storming heaven with their prayers in San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, where Fr. Mario Jose Ladra is the parish priest. In his parish we celebrated the feast of St. Camillus and attended the Mass and healing service, during which we prayed over the sick and the suffering. More than one thousand people participated in the event. The Mass started at 6:30 pm followed by healing prayer at 7:30. The activity ended at 9:15 pm. Fr. Evan Paul Villanueva, MI presided over the Holy Eucharist, while Fr. Boy Guinit, MI concelebrated. In his homily Fr. Evan inspired the people with his charismatic reflections about Camillian charism and shared very briefly about the life of St. Camillus. For sure, it was something new for many to learn about the “unsaintly” aspects of St. Camillus’ existence... But not the experience of gambling. Many could identify with the life of St. Camillus – so human and yet so divine. Thanks Fr. Mar… May the good work St. Camillus has started through you continue to flourish… |
